Steven Savile
Steven
Savile (born October 12, 1969, in Newcastle, England) is a British fantasy
and horror writer, editor, and publisher living in Stockholm, Sweden.
Steven has spent the last few years working very hard at becoming an overnight
success. He has edited a number of critically acclaimed anthologies, including
Elemental (with Alethea Kontis), Redbrick Eden, and Doctor Who Short Trips:
Destination Prague. He also compiled (with John Pelan) Smoke Ghost & Other
Apparitions and Black Gondolier and Other Stories, the collected horror stories
of Fritz Leiber.
Steven is the author of the Von Carstein Vampire trilogy (Inheritance, Dominion,
Retribution) set in Games Workshop's popular Warhammer world, and has
re-imagined the bloodthirsty Celtic barbarian Slaine from 2000 AD in a new
trilogy of novels for Black Flame (The Exile, The Defiler). He has also written
for Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and three incarnations of The Doctor.
Steven's original novels and short story collections include: Temple:
Incarnations, Laughing Boy's Shadow, Houdini's Last Illusion, Angel Road, and
the graphic novel Fragrance of You (with artist Robert Sammelin). His work can
also be found in the Stoker-nominated Aegri Somnia, Poe's Progeny, Horrorworld's
2005 Eulogies, and Writers Digest's classic On Writing Horror. He was a runner
up in the 2000 British Fantasy Awards, a winner of a 2002 Writers of the Future
Award, and has been nominated for the inaugural 2006 Scribe Award for best novel
adaptation for his novel Slaine: The Exile.
Savile was a runner-up for the British Fantasy Award in 2000 and was a Writers
of the Future winner in 2002.
