The Right Hand of God Review

The Right Hand of God by Russell KirkpatrickThe Right Hand of God review by David Edwards

Well what can I say. I really enjoyed the first two books immensely. Great story line and world creation. Hal and Leith are still there and not really seeing eye to eye again. This is no surprise as Hal seems to be a self centered snivelling brat in this one. Hal is just Hal and every one else is the same.

While in Instruere (capital of Faltha) the politics are kind of loosely done. Actually there is almost none unfortunately. Mr. Kirkpatrick I think could have done more in this are.

I like a good fantasy with epic battles and all but this one just did not fit well into the story. The ending of it and the continuation of the story line just felt like drag to me. The character's could have been more rounded here. In the first and second books (see Across The Face of the World & In The Earth Abides The Flame) the size of the world is huge and full of wonder but the third is lacking somewhat.

I understand why it ended the way it did and I suggest reading the series and giving it a try. You may just enjoy it.
